The Warren County Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance May 20 authorizing payment of a one‑time 1.5% bonus for county employees that mirrors a state appropriation for state‑funded positions.
County staff told the board that about 18 positions are state‑funded and roughly 98 are not. County Human Resources requested the county expand the state appropriation to include all county employees plus certain part‑time staff who meet FMLA thresholds. County staff said the total cost to the county is $272,000 and that the state will reimburse roughly $89,000; the county would pay the remainder from compensation and merit reserves and departmental allocations.
"The total cost is $272,000; we will get reimbursed by the state for roughly $89,000," Director Meadows said during the hearing. Board members asked how the reimbursement would affect next year's budget; staff confirmed the county will expend funds in fiscal year 2025 and receive the reimbursement in fiscal year 2026.
A public hearing drew no speakers on the item. On roll call the board voted to adopt the ordinance; supervisors recorded aye votes and the ordinance was approved.
County staff said the bonus distribution would be processed in the current budget and the state reimbursement will be reflected in the following fiscal year’s revenue calculations.
