The Laredo Planning and Zoning Commission voted to reschedule its regularly scheduled June 19 meeting to Wednesday, June 18, because the June 19 date falls on the Juneteenth National Independence Day holiday.
Staff noted Juneteenth is a national holiday and recommended moving the meeting rather than holding it on the holiday. Commissioners discussed possible alternative dates (including a later week date) and noted constraints such as council-chambers availability and public attendance challenges for midday meetings. After a brief availability check and a poll of members in the chamber, a motion to set the meeting for Wednesday, June 18 was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Staff indicated it will poll members and check chamber availability for the new date. The commission’s action formally sets the June meeting for June 18; staff will post the revised agenda and notice consistent with open-meeting requirements.
