Board recognizes 18-under-18 honoree Pamela Carmajal and longtime board member Susan Fobian

Supervisor remarks praised Carmajal’s school and community activities. Carmajal told the board she takes part in varsity volleyball, mariachi (guitar and viola), ROTC—where she served as lieutenant colonel and corps commander for 31 cadets—and multiple community service projects including food and toy drives. “I participate in various clubs… I was lieutenant colonel and served as the corps' corps commander of the unit,” Carmajal said.
The board presented Carmajal a certificate of recognition and a challenge coin. Supervisors highlighted the role of youth leadership programs and encouraged her continued involvement in service organizations.
The board also recognized Susan Fobian for 16½ years on the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District board. Speakers credited Fobian with extensive local service, noted her participation with the Arizona School Boards Association advocating for equitable funding, and thanked her for long-term contributions to education in the county. Fobian responded that serving on the school board was time-consuming but rewarding and expressed appreciation for the community’s support.
No formal action accompanied the recognitions; they were presented as part of the meeting’s awards and acknowledgments.
