After Centennial, Port Richey CAC moves to form event planning/marketing committee and discuss annual car show, Veterans luncheon
Summary
Committee members recommended forming a standing event planning and marketing committee to carry forward Centennial momentum and to plan recurring events including a car show, a trunk-or-treat-style children’s event and a Veterans luncheon. Council language to form the committee was expected to appear on a future agenda.

Members said the Centennial events drew strong community interest and recommended a standing event planning and marketing committee to coordinate future festivals and outreach. "As we wind down the Centennial committee that we look at creating a, separate committee that would be the event planning slash marketing committee," a committee member said, noting council would need to consider formal language to create the body.
The group discussed specific events for the coming months: an October car show (with the possibility of trunk-or-treat activities for children), a spring car show for broader engagement, and a Veterans luncheon possibly timed around Nov. 11 and supported by local sponsors. Members said TJ (a local organizer) and a Walmart property contact had helped secure a Centennial car-show venue and that similar partnerships could be used going forward.
Members stressed they did not want the CAC to become solely an events coordinator and discussed forming the new committee to centralize event planning while preserving the CAC's advisory role. Staff said council would receive proposed committee language and decide whether to form the body; if approved, the committee would undertake event logistics, sponsorship solicitation and marketing.
No formal votes were taken at the June 5 meeting; members agreed to reach out to potential partners (including TJ) and for staff to put committee-formation language on a future council agenda if appropriate.
