Art teacher showcases student mural and state art awards; board praises program

Tim described a student-led mural process that began with individual student designs, a scaled grid transfer and collaborative painting by high-school art students. “It was a great project,” Tim said, noting the class of nine or ten students each led sections of the final mural and added stencil elements and outlines to complete the work.
Tim also reported the district sent 13 student art pieces to a state exhibit and five received ribbons — roughly a 38 percent ribbon rate — and he singled out a student named Sierra who received three ribbons for three photographs. Tim described the techniques used by several students, including a stippling piece completed “by just individual dots” and a layered printmaking project titled “layers of Duke Lewis, Wyoming.”
Board members thanked Tim for exhibiting student work throughout the year and praised student achievements. The board encouraged continued community visibility for student art and recommended documenting and posting photos to the district’s channels.
