Mercer Island parks commission postpones officer elections to next meeting

The Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously on June 5 to postpone elections for chair and vice chair until the commission’s next regularly scheduled meeting.
A motion to “suspend the chair and vice chair elections until the next regularly scheduled meeting and have Commissioner Peter Strzok serve as the presiding officer for the remainder of the June 5 PRC meeting” was read into the record and approved by roll-call vote. Commissioners McCarthy, Bridal, Hay and Strzok voted in favor; three commissioners were recorded as absent and excused.
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the minutes of its May 1 regular meeting. The commission’s next regular meeting is July 3, 2025, and staff said elections will be scheduled for a future meeting and announced to commissioners when set.
