"As the superintendent of the El Paso Independent School District, I certify that all students receiving diplomas today have met the requirements for graduation as prescribed by the board of trustees, the El Paso Independent School District, and the state of Texas, and are entitled to receive their diplomas," Sayavedra said during remarks at the ceremony.
Dr. Jack Loveridge, vice president of the El Paso ISD board of trustees, accepted the certification on behalf of the board. "On behalf of the El Paso Independent School District and on behalf of the board of trustees, I accept the certification of the graduates of El Paso High School, the class of 2025. Congratulations," Dr. Loveridge said as diploma distribution began.
Sayavedra used her remarks to congratulate students and their families and to place the ceremony in a broader context of the district's mission. She recounted the role of teachers and family in students' success and urged graduates to pursue their goals with integrity and persistence.
Diplomas were handed out onstage and graduates' names were read; the ceremony also included student speeches and traditional elements such as the ringing of the school bell and the tassel turn. The total number of graduates was not specified during the remarks.
