School board approves two PTG fundraisers including annual parking-space raffle

The Bedford School District school board voted to approve two fundraisers proposed by the Parent Teacher Group (PTG): the annual high‑school parking‑space raffle and a reinstated graduation‑seat raffle.

PTG co‑president Christina Cousy presented the proposals and told the board "there are two fundraisers... one is the high school parking space raffle... the second... the graduation seat raffle." The board made a motion to accept the PTG request; a second was recorded and the voice vote was in favor.

Board members emphasized the need for consistency when outside groups use district property. One board member noted that because both the parking spaces and the seating "are part of our" property, PTG and similar groups must come before the board when fundraisers use district property. The board’s discussion distinguished fundraisers that require board approval because they use district property from other PTG activities that do not use property and therefore do not require the same approval.

Cousy said the graduation‑seat raffle had been run by PTG in prior years and that bringing it back this year followed discussion about how to avoid confusion and how the fundraiser would ultimately benefit students at graduation.

The board did not attach additional conditions to the approvals during the discussion. The PTG also mentioned the PTG’s annual engagement with the board to present fundraisers.

The approvals were completed by voice vote; the transcript records the board saying "All in favor?" followed by affirmative responses.
