Mineola approves two new stop signs at Coolidge Avenue and Bauer Place after resident petition

The Mineola Board of Trustees approved a resolution on June 4 to install two stop signs at Coolidge Avenue and Bauer Place following a petition from residents.
A village presenter said the request "is at a request of a petition submitted by residents in that area. After analyzing the traffic flow, we did agree that perhaps it would be best that we put these 2 stop signs up to slow down traffic, calm down traffic at that intersection on Bauer and, Coolidge." Trustee Clark moved the resolution and Trustee Casado seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
The approved locations are one stop sign at the northeast corner of Coolidge Avenue and Bauer Place and one on the south side of Coolidge Avenue across from Bauer Place. The village did not present a construction timetable or project cost at the meeting.
Why it matters: the signs are intended to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety at a neighborhood intersection; officials said the action stemmed from a resident petition and internal traffic review.
