Glenn Barker told council the change order will increase engineering costs related to the project “to about $500,000,” reflecting additional hours needed as FEMA grant work continues. Barker said the change order addresses plan revisions required because of recent land sales and adds grant administration hours because FEMA’s process is taking longer than originally anticipated.
Council voted to authorize the city manager to execute the necessary documentation. The vote was unanimous.
The change order does not, from staff’s description, alter the scope of construction on the ground but covers engineering, study updates and administrative time that staff say are necessary to keep the FEMA grant and design process on schedule.
Council did not discuss budget offsets during the meeting; staff presented the change order amount and requested authorization to proceed with execution of the contract modification.
