The Murfreesboro City Council approved a purchase and sale agreement to acquire a parcel at 654 West Main Street from the Henderson family for $105,000, a property city staff said adjoins the solid‑waste convenience center and will help assemble city holdings for public works facilities.
An administration staff member described the parcel as the small concrete slab adjacent to the solid‑waste convenience center and said the city evaluated the request from the family trust and concluded the site would be useful for current public‑works operations and for assembling property for future South and North public‑works facilities. Staff proposed funding the purchase and due‑diligence costs from the 2025 capital improvement plan property acquisition contingency and estimated due‑diligence costs would be less than $150,000.
Council approved the purchase and sale agreement by unanimous roll call. Staff said they would complete due diligence and return as needed with closing documents.
