During his report to the Prattville City Council, the mayor provided an update on the city's Lateral Rehabilitation Assistance Program (LRAP), saying the program has assisted about 40 senior citizens.
"LRAP is a lateral rehab rehabilitation assistance program," the mayor said. "We've had about 40 of our senior citizens that have reached out to us. And, and so far this year, we've already spent, roughly about 70,000 of the budget, $100,000 for this program."
He encouraged councilors to direct residents in need to the public works department, which helps connect citizens to the program. The mayor linked proper sewer line operation to preventing wastewater overload and treatment costs, noting staff and infrastructure work following recent heavy rain.
Councilors did not take formal action on the LRAP update; the mayor presented it as an informational report and noted the program's current spending and outreach.
