"The LCAP is a required plan that each district all California school districts are required to develop, adopt, and annually update," she said.
Petty described seven action items from last year and summarized adjustments based on community engagement and survey feedback. Notable changes highlighted in the presentation include adding a summer academic and enrichment program at Captain Cooper in Big Sur and extending after‑school intervention/tutoring funding, initially planned for high school only, to Captain Cooper and Tular Sitos elementary schools.
Petty said the district adjusted goal‑area actions in response to recent state dashboard indicators. The LCAP includes targeted actions to respond to red indicators for long‑term English learners and suspension rates, and continues a multi‑year action item addressing attendance after the district saw improvements in recent months. She emphasized the state requires some actions to remain in place for the duration of the three‑year plan.
Adjustments to Goal 3 were described as focusing on differentiated mathematics professional learning; that item was expanded from middle‑school-only professional development to include both middle and high school departments and relevant district staff. Petty said the draft LCAP had been reviewed with the county office.
Board members thanked staff for community engagement and the explicit alignment between the LCAP and the newly adopted strategic plan. No public comments were received during the hearing. The board scheduled formal adoption for the next meeting on June 18.
