Presiding Officer, Senator (presiding officer), announced that the Education Transformation Committee of Conference will meet June 11, June 12 and June 13 at 10 a.m. in Room 10 on the main floor of the State House, and that the sessions will continue “all day until agreement is reached.”
The announcement matters because the committee is a conference group charged with reconciling differing House and Senate education proposals ahead of the Senate’s upcoming veto-override session. The presiding officer said anyone may attend in person and that a Zoom link and the exchange of documents are available via the Vermont Legislature landing page and the Vermont Senate education committee web page.
The presiding officer said, “The 2 sides have agreed to meet next week on the eleventh, the twelfth, and the thirteenth at 10 in the morning with the intention of going all day until agreement is reached.” That statement was followed by instructions on where the public can find meeting links and archived documents.
The announcement identified Room 10 on the State House main floor as the in-person meeting location and the Vermont Legislature landing page as the place to find the Zoom link and agenda. The presiding officer also noted that the Senate’s education committee web page is archiving the documents “that have been passed back and forth between the 2 sides.”
No votes were taken during the token session. The presiding officer concluded by saying that, because a quorum of the Senate had not assembled, “pursuant to rule 9 of senate rules, the senate adjourns until 11:00 in the forenoon on Monday, 06/09/2025.”
The committee meetings are scheduled ahead of the Senate’s veto-override session on the 16th, which the presiding officer referenced as the next major floor event. Members of the public who wish to attend should consult the Vermont Legislature website for the official agenda and remote access information.
