The petitioner, identified in the record as Kim Blaucheck (petitioner), said side fences would remain at the standard 6 feet but she requested an 8-foot fence along the rear to restore privacy. She described yard topography that leaves the backyard visible from the sidewalk and told the hearing officer, "We have 0 privacy. We have more of a slope than our neighbors...right when the fence starts, the yard on the other side slopes upward to get to the sidewalk, so we have 0 privacy." She also raised safety concerns, saying passersby sometimes make comments to children playing in the backyard.
The hearing officer noted exhibits including a survey, a site plan, and photographs. He told the petitioner he had sufficient information to make a decision and said his intention was to recommend approval; he directed that the case will be considered at the recommendation meeting on June 18 at 3:00 p.m., and then will proceed to the county development committee and full county board if recommended.
No formal vote occurred during the May 20 hearing and no final decision was announced.
