Board unanimously selects three student board members for 2025–26

The Seattle School Board on June 4 appointed three student board members for the 2025–26 school year. After a selection‑committee report, a director moved the motion to select Josephine Mangelsen, Isabel Masudi and Saba Yoon; the motion carried unanimously.
Miles Von Lehman, a member of the student selection committee, told the board the committee reviewed more than 90 applications and interviewed seven finalists before recommending the three students. He said the finalists were evaluated on leadership, community commitment and collaboration skills.
During roll call the following directors recorded aye votes: Director Hersey, Director Mizrahi, Director Rankin, Director Sarju, Vice President Briggs, Director Clark and President Topp. The board welcomed the students and said they looked forward to the new members’ participation in August and the upcoming policy work the continuing student member is leading.
Action details: The board’s motion selected the three named students as school board student members for 2025–26 and the motion passed unanimously.
