City staff announced Monday that Kennesaw has been awarded a $160,000 grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) under the 2025 Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) to fund a Cobb Parkway connectivity study.
Drobny, a city staff member, told the council the grant will help "reimagine" Cobb Parkway and that staff will work with ARC beginning in June and into the summer to develop study scope and community engagement. Drobny thanked planning staff for their work on the application, singling out Chanel (staff) and Daryl Simmons in planning and zoning for their roles in securing the award.
Drobny also announced a recognition the city recently received from Cobb Landmarks and the Historical Society for renovation work at the Kennesaw Depot, noting the award reflects the cityeffort on the depot restoration.
Decision/Next steps: Staff will coordinate with ARC to define the study scope and schedule community engagement later this summer; no council vote was required for the announcement.
