CRCSD announces leadership moves; several hires pending board approval

Cedar Rapids Community School District announced a set of leadership changes on its Future Ready Today podcast, including two hires that the district said are pending school-board approval.

"We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Sam Hostetler will step into the role of principal of Jefferson starting 07/01/2025, pending board approval," the podcast said. The district identified Hostetler as the school's current associate principal and noted he has more than a decade of experience, including work in special education and leadership roles at Kennedy High School and Grant Wood AEA.

The podcast also said Charlie Getzinger will be the incoming principal at Wilson Middle School, describing Getzinger as having "spent 14 years in CRCSD as a teacher, facilitator, and associate principal" and as being rooted in the Westside community. "He's excited to partner with Wilson's amazing staff and families," the announcement said.

In a separate announcement, CRCSD said it will welcome Jennifer Van Fleet as executive director of student services starting July 1, 2025, "pending board approval." The district described Van Fleet as bringing more than 15 years of experience in public education, most recently working in the Davenport Community School District on state and federal programs focused on MTSS, English-learner programming, equity and student support services.

The podcast also thanked "Mrs. Olaf," saying she is moving into a new leadership role at Wright Elementary; the announcement offered no first name, start date or further details for that move. Each named hire in the podcast was identified as subject to board approval where indicated; the podcast did not report a board vote or the board's scheduled consideration date.
