The Oxford Area Board of School Directors voted May 20 to approve a transportation services contract with Oxford Transportation Inc. effective July 1, 2025.
Board discussion during the finance report noted the district entered negotiations knowing its prior contract rates were well below county averages. Administration and negotiators said the new contract raises rates to bring the district—s contract toward county parity and includes provisions intended to raise bus driver compensation and contribute to vehicle replacement. The contract also contains language enabling discussions if market wages escalate materially during the contract term.
Administrators described the contract as negotiated to balance district budget pressures with the operational need to retain and recruit drivers and to secure a provider capable of replacing and maintaining the fleet. Board members thanked district negotiators and staff for the work and for maintaining continuity with an incumbent provider that served the district during the COVID period.
The motion passed by voice vote at the meeting.
