Niagara Falls students present Allegheny State Park trip, credit school program's outdoor experiential learning

Saquon Mitchell, a senior, said, "They're...super comfortable. And, also, just the whole vibe of Allegheny was super friendly, and it taught us a lot more about the outdoors." Michael Richards, also a senior, showed a video of the trip and said the group visited the Red House Inn area and took two hikes.
Teacher Mark Dahl, who accompanied students, and district leaders praised the students' teamwork and said 24 students participated. "He took 24 of them. He brought 24 back," Superintendent Mark Lohrey said during the presentation.
Why this matters: board members highlighted the program as an example of experiential learning that supports career and college readiness and builds student bonds. Administrators said the district supports overnight trips that align with student interest and are arranged by teacher referral and interest sign‑ups.
The Board thanked the students and staff for sharing the video and reflections. The presentation closed with officials congratulating the students and acknowledging staff who supported the trip.
