Ocean Shores airport advisory committee sets Airport Appreciation Day for Aug. 23, outlines logistics and safety plan

The Ocean Shores Airport Advisory Committee voted to hold its 2025 Airport Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 23, and kept a 10 a.m. start time for public setup and exhibits.

Committee members said the decision balances prior concerns about weather and visibility on the traditionally earlier date while keeping the event’s objective of attracting visitors from the beach and the region.

Committee members said the event will use lessons learned from last year to revise the layout, parking, exhibitors and advertising. Key decisions included keeping the start time at 10 a.m., consolidating displays in Bill Capron’s hangar to reduce wind damage to exhibits, moving food trucks closer to asphalt and emergency displays, adding directional median signs to guide visitors from town, and printing updated tri-fold brochures for distribution at local airports and public locations.
