Mayor Klein told the council June 4 that Orange Village is pursuing a village hall renovation and evaluating a potential new fire station near the Pine Crest area and that architects will be sought to prepare designs and budgets to support financing decisions.
“We have enlisted architects to be considered to develop designs and budgets to facilitate the potential financing of these projects. We hope to select an architect or architects within the next few weeks to be able to advance the projects,” the mayor said. He said the village hopes to move forward once an architect is selected and that those designs will inform potential financing.
The mayor also said a Miles Road waterline project proposed for the year is under review by engineering and that the village expects to begin construction once approvals are in hand. He outlined other local redevelopment discussions, including productive meetings with local business owners about the Meinels/Brainerd sites to create a “gateway” to Orange Village and meetings with groups interested in renovating the former Baptist school on Emery Road.
Why it matters: Planning and design work will determine the scope and cost of proposed capital projects that affect village facilities and emergency services capacity.
Next steps: The administration will select an architect or architects within weeks and return to council with designs and budgets to guide financing decisions.
