Probably take maybe a week to actually do it." He also said two proposals were solicited and the low negotiated proposal was from North Georgia Pipeline for $55,000. The council recorded a 5-0 vote to approve the award.
The staff presentation identified the immediate risk to the roadway from the undermined pipe and characterized the project as an emergency repair that was not included in the current budget. The council did not amend the budget at the meeting; the item was approved as an emergency expenditure.
Councilmembers asked about schedule and whether excavation would be required; John confirmed the spray-liner approach avoids digging and recommended the contractor because similar projects had performed well.
The council's approval authorizes the department to proceed with the liner installation and to coordinate any necessary traffic or fairgrounds impacts with the vendor and city staff.
