Board OKs moving June 17 precinct to central office and nominates automotive program for workforce award
Summary
The board granted permission to Louisa County registrar to relocate a middle-school polling precinct to the district central office for the June 17 primary because of summer school; the board also authorized nominating its automotive technology program for an ESBA workforce readiness award.
A board member asked permission to allow the county registrar to move a polling precinct from the middle school to the Louisa County Public Schools central office for the June 17 primary because the middle school will host summer school.
“We have summer school. We’ve worked with … the county registrar, and she has asked for and received permission to move the precinct to the central office location here upon your approval of the use of the site,” Staff member B said. “That will allow us to because you have summer school as well, and parking lot is would be the same parking. They’re gonna provide people in the lot to make sure individuals know to come into this building and not the other building.”
After board discussion, members voted by voice to approve the use of the central office as the polling place for the Mineral District precinct on June 17.
Separately, staff requested and obtained board approval to nominate the district’s automotive technology program — led by “Mr. Robertson,” who the staff presenter said was county educator of the year — for an ESBA workforce readiness award. Staff member B said the CTE programs provide workforce opportunities for students and asked permission to submit the nomination.
The board approved the nomination; staff said the nomination is required before the application can be submitted.
