VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Vancouver School District board unanimously approved on June 3 a revised policy that restricts student use of personal electronic devices during instructional periods and throughout the school day at the elementary level.
The policy—Policy 2010, Personal Electronic Devices—limits phones, headphones and gaming devices in class, while retaining exceptions for documented disability accommodations and for emergency access. The board considered the measure on its second reading and took a vote after a brief discussion about enforcement and accommodations.
