City manager: Glacier Gateway safety project will require tree removals, temporary easements and will affect dozens of homes

The city manager told the council that the Glacier Gateway safety and mobility project — work on Thirteenth and Fourth streets — will affect landscaping and driveways for many properties and will include tree removals and replacement of some fences.
Staff said Jacobs, the project contractor, included a public-relations component in its contract and is preparing diagrams that show the construction impact, demolition, and the final street design. The city manager said Jacobs is also preparing temporary construction easements and will conduct individual meetings with larger stakeholders and businesses to explain anticipated impacts and request easements where needed.
The manager and council said the work will include property-level outreach and that residents will receive mailers and opportunities for one-on-one engagement. Councilors were warned the project will have notable effects on private landscaping; staff asked residents to expect outreach and to review the project diagrams when provided.
