The Parma City School District presented a strategic planning update at its June meeting and released preliminary results from the 2025 Ohio State tests showing the district exceeded state averages in multiple tested subjects.
District leaders framed the presentation as a “contract with the community” based on input from more than 1,400 participants and summarized action steps developed by volunteer-and-staff committees that focused on academic achievement, fiscal responsibility and student well-being.
The superintendent’s office cautioned the test results are preliminary and subject to standard state reconciliation processes such as “where kids count,” but said the district surpassed state averages in third-grade math, fourth-grade English language arts, fourth-grade math, eighth-grade math, Algebra I, United States government and ELA II. The district said a fuller report card presentation will follow in the fall.
Committee highlights included creation of common tiers of academic and behavioral supports that will be posted on the district website, a parent-initiated request process to trigger school-level help, development of a district video to publicize positive programs, and a back-to-school community event scheduled for Aug. 13 from 5–7 p.m. District leaders said elementary extracurricular participation was identified as a weakness and will be a planning focus.
The update also listed communications steps (monthly “Financial Fridays” explainers and other outreach) and encouraged use of a revised parent-app and information products to improve transparency. Officials said the strategic-planning process produced aspirational action steps that still require follow-up and implementation work by staff and school committees.
Board members and committee co‑facilitators who presented recognized participants from multiple schools and thanked volunteers for their work. The district plans a more detailed fall presentation on academic trends and the formal report card.
