The Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission on June 3 told the Surprise City Council that it is pursuing a partnership with the Dysart Unified School District and a proposed Center for the Arts to bring more cultural programming into Surprise.
Dr. Charlotte Pullins, chair of the Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission, said the collaboration is in early stages but has "incredible" potential as a shared space for student showcases and professional performances. "Art belongs to everyone, and this partnership, it moves us closer to making sure everyone in Surprise has a front row seat," Pullins said during the council's call to the public.
Pullins noted the partnership would allow residents to attend high-quality performances and a range of cultural programming within the city rather than traveling outside Surprise. She thanked the council for supporting the initiative and said the commission looks forward to developing the project "to serve generations to come."
The presentation was delivered during the call-to-the-public segment of the June 3 meeting; no formal council action on the item was recorded.
