Tony Bison, representative of Clean Can Peddle Works, said he was not aware of prior county work with the firm and that the company had been acquiring local companies that perform similar work.
Committee members suggested reviewing the original bid wording and procurement process to ensure the county did not miss clarifying language before approving the added payment. Dan Smith, public works director, said bidders provide an escalation for future years during the bidding process and that set escalation percentages for years two through four were part of the bid response.
The committee approved the pulled items, including this item, as part of a later motion after the discussion; members asked staff to double‑check the bid history and documentation before issuing additional payments.
