Commission approves extra mowing and notes parks groundbreaking June 9

The Mooresville Redevelopment Commission on June 5 approved a motion allowing parks staff to mow the Mooresville Business Center property up to six times this season to address heavy spring growth.

Chelsea, a staff member, told the commission the site had experienced wet-spring growth that at one inspection had exceeded 3 feet in six weeks; parks staff recommended increasing mowing frequency from the four times originally planned to every three to four weeks while growth remains vigorous. Chelsea said each mowing costs $900, which she said is less than half of what the town previously paid, so adding one or two additional visits would still be less expensive than earlier contracts. A commissioner moved to permit up to six mowings this season; the motion passed by voice vote.

Separately, staff noted a parks groundbreaking is scheduled for Monday, June 9 at 5:30 p.m. on North Indianapolis Road; staff said they would confirm the exact meeting location and notify the commission. The meeting record shows the commission discussed logistics for attending the groundbreaking but did not record a formal action beyond the mowing approval.
