Clay County schools report no safety deficiencies in fourth-quarter state inspections

Matt Boyack, Clay County District Schools director of safety and security, presented the district's quarterly safety report June 5 and said state inspections found no deficiencies at the schools reviewed in the quarter.

"In the fourth quarter of the 24‑25 school year, Clay County District Schools had 4 schools inspected or reinspected by the Florida Department of Education Office of Safe Schools," Boyack said. "This represents roughly 9% of our schools. All 4 of our inspected schools were found to not have any school safety requirement deficiencies."

The district reported the year-to-date total as 21 of 25 state inspections with no compliance issues, which Boyack called an accomplishment and attributed to coordination among school leaders, teachers and support staff. He cited Florida law requiring that the Office of Safe Schools provide quarterly reports to district superintendents and school boards.

Why it matters: School safety inspections and the district's compliance results are used by state officials to evaluate whether campuses meet specified safety requirements. The presentation fulfills a statutory reporting obligation and gives board members and the public a numerical snapshot of inspections and outcomes.
