The Finance Committee recommended approving a three‑year subscription to Urban SDK to provide near‑real‑time and historical geospatial traffic analytics for the Cheyenne Police Department; the subscription is a three‑year agreement totaling $105,367.50.
The Finance Committee recommended that the City Council approve a three‑year subscription to Urban SDK, a geospatial vehicle, traffic and infrastructure analytics platform, for use by the Cheyenne Police Department.
Joel Hickerson of the Cheyenne Police Department said the three‑year contract (July 1 start) totals $105,367.50, with an annual cost of $35,122.50; a multiyear contract realizes about a 10% savings versus annual renewals. Urban SDK aggregates traffic sensors, GPS, public transit information and crash reports into dashboards and maps for historical and near‑real‑time analysis, Hickerson said, allowing staff to identify speeds, congestion and crash hotspots to more efficiently target traffic enforcement.
Committee members asked whether the platform provides live data; Hickerson said it is live “within an hour” and that historical data will go back to June 2024 on subscription. Members who had previously viewed the system described it as useful for targeting enforcement to reduce high‑lethality violations. With no public comment, the committee moved and seconded a recommendation to adopt the contract and forward it to council.
If adopted, the police department will use Urban SDK to guide enforcement and safety efforts and to monitor trends over time using continually collected data.
