Business staff said contractors will begin work on the Mitchell Elementary playground as soon as school is out; the project is expected to be completed in mid‑August and will add a new playground structure, an overhead shade structure and a rubberized safety surface. The Rogers two‑story classroom project had its preconstruction meeting and is scheduled to start around July 1; staff estimated an 18‑month construction duration with tentative completion in December 2026.
In the superintendent’s report, staff highlighted the district’s Vision to Learn program. The district reported nearly 4,000 vision screenings this year, over 1,200 on‑site vision exams performed by the Vision to Learn van and more than 1,000 free eyeglasses distributed to students.
Staff also summarized summer academic offerings: a "Summer Forward" program serving about 200 K–5 students for targeted reading and math intervention, and language development programs serving about 150 students (dual‑language support, newcomers and long‑term English learners). The district said social workers and community liaisons will pilot parenting classes in conjunction with language academy participants and will report back on outcomes at the end of summer.
