Pewaukee sought cost-sharing from Pewaukee for Lindsay Road–I-164 signal; time window for DOT agreement passed

The committee revisited a request — originally raised by Committee member Swan — to add traffic signals at the Lindsay Road intersection with I-164. Public works staff said the committee and common council previously discussed including signals as part of the I-164 project and sent a letter to the village of Pewaukee asking it to cost-share the signals.
Staff reported the Wisconsin Department of Transportation provided a preliminary price and that, because the intersection is within a village, the village needed to sign paperwork. The village instead submitted a request to Waukesha County asking the county to fund the improvement from a county fund.
Public works staff said multiple follow-ups with the village produced responses that the village was still waiting for the county to act. Staff added that the time window to sign the DOT agreement passed and that staff “didn't follow-up with the village after that.” Acknowledging Committee member Swan’s desire for signals at the intersection, the staff member said, “from my perspective, I think that the time has passed. And at this point, I don't know there's much that we can do since it's out of our control, out of our jurisdiction.”
No formal action was taken. Staff said the only practical step remaining is to follow up with the village’s new administrator and learn whether the village still wants Pewaukee to participate or re-open the DOT paperwork process.
