Councilors described recent site work on West Second Street and said a committee chaired by Greg Castor has met every two weeks to prepare the capsule site. The council’s resolution specifies sealing on Sunday, July 6, 2025 with a public event planned at approximately 6:30 p.m. after the parade. The council asked that future leaders consider opening the capsule on significant anniversaries but did not set an unambiguous opening year during the meeting.
Council members praised the work of the committee and asked the public to attend the block party and the ceremonial sealing. The resolution passed by roll call, 5-0-2.
