Delaware Health District plans mobile clinic and food-access survey in Sunbury this summer

Tracy Whitaker of the Delaware Health District briefed Sunbury City Council Wednesday on upcoming public-health outreach, including mobile clinic services and a food-access survey scheduled for July 7 at the Sunbury Community Library.
Whitaker said the district will deploy a local mobile unit in Sunbury with web services available and that the unit offers a sliding-fee scale to serve underinsured and uninsured residents. “We do offer a sliding scale, and we do offer pretty vaccines,” Whitaker said in response to council questions about affordability.
The district will also conduct a survey to assess food accessibility among people with disabilities; Whitaker asked residents who buy, sell or grow food to participate and noted that the event would provide snacks and child supervision for school-age children. Whitaker said the district coordinates with local partners including the farmer's market where some vendors accept SNAP.
Council thanked the health-district representative and asked staff to share logistics with residents; no formal council action was requested or taken.
