Jenny, a staff member, reviewed proposed hours: weekdays gym 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; weekends 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after‑school program roughly 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; childcare weekday hours 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. during school time and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on summer weekdays. Board members reiterated that childcare is for patrons using the facility while on premises; parents may not drop children and leave the premises. "Childcare is for anyone using our facilities at the time. Correct. Not drop them off, go to dinner," Jenny said.
Board members discussed multipurpose court hours (pickleball, tennis and basketball), noting that some activities may run long and that summer programming (camp) will block facility time. The board generally supported pickleball hours of roughly 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends (the group agreed to change a draft 8 to 5 to 8 to 4) and discussed a possible earlier weekday start for gym users should staff availability permit. Members also discussed first-come, first-served access for open-play basketball and leaving organized leagues and rentals subject to scheduling and potential fees.
Staff said the rec center will have staffing to open the facility and check people in during gym hours; details on access control and possible key‑fob or stamp systems were raised as implementation options. The board agreed to reconvene on hours and finalize the schedule before forwarding a consolidated item to the commission; no formal vote was taken at the meeting on final hours.
