City staff requested council approval of a contract with Pyro Shows of Alabama to provide a fireworks display at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium for the Independence Day celebration on Tuesday, July 1. Staff said the company requested a signed contract rather than operating on a purchase order and that the display would be set up in the stadium's lower lot under approval by the fire marshal and fire department.
"They'll have all their licenses and permits done," the staff member said. Staff noted attendance tracking for recent years is difficult because post‑COVID changes led to tailgating in the parking lot; staff recalled parking lots had been full for the last two years. Council indicated the fireworks contract would be added to the Monday consent/regular agenda for approval.
