Committee members said they had already received several five-figure commitments in pledges and discussed logistics including whether the outing should be open to the public or restricted to club members. Members discussed approaching the golf course management and using an experienced event contact — several members mentioned Julio and a Chamber contact who had organized similar events.
The committee approved a motion to set Feb. 20 as a tentative date and directed organizers to scope costs (deposits, tents, food and other logistics) and to seek sponsors. Committee members noted upfront deposits would likely be required and asked the committee to identify a seed amount it would put forward.
Separately the committee approved a motion to request additional town funding as seed money for events; the committee recorded a motion on the table to increase the committee’s budget by $15,000 (noted in the meeting as a request to raise the town allocation to $30,000), and that motion passed.
Organizers will return with a detailed budget, a proposed list of sponsors and a recommended seed amount for council consideration.
