Hoover City staff asked the City Council to approve a licensing agreement to display the city's new US News & World Report ranking on street-pole banners in East and West Hoover. Jamie Shore, marketing coordinator for the City of Hoover, told the council the city achieved a No. 25 ranking in US News’ top 250 U.S. cities and is the top-ranked city in Alabama.
The licensing agreement would allow the city to use US News branding on banners through the next ranking cycle, up to May 2026, under a contract managed by BrandConnects. "We achieved the ranking of number 25. So top 25, top 10% in that list, and top ranked city in Alabama," Shore said, adding the banners would help spread brand recognition and offer "maximum exposure." Shore told the council any cost for the licensing would be paid from the marketing/tourism budget.
Council members asked no further questions during the work session. The council chair indicated the item would move forward for formal consideration on the regular meeting agenda.
