Commissioners approve contracts, add procurement items; DA vehicle purchase and multiple CYS renewals included

The Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved several procurement and contract items and moved multiple department renewals to the next consent agenda.
District Attorney vehicle: Dave, speaking for the district attorney’s office, asked the board to approve a CoStar contract with Hondru Chevrolet to purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado crew-cab 4x4 for a county detective assigned to the Pennsylvania State Police Auto Theft Task Force. Dave said the purchase is fully funded by a grant awarded to the district attorney’s office and that the total cost is $46,779.98. Commissioners approved the CoStar contract by voice vote.
Tax Claim and posting vendor: Jen (Tax Claim Bureau) presented a renewal for Palmetto Posting, which handles statutory postings and personal service for properties heading to tax sale. The firm will remain at $35 per parcel in 2025, rising $2.50 per parcel in 2026 and an additional $2.50 in 2027. The board voted to add the Palmetto Posting renewal to next week’s consent agenda.
Facilities and IT procurements: The board added an updated agreement with American International (equipment for the new Community Services Building) and approved a contract with D’Agostino Electronic Services to install audio‑visual equipment in the Community Services Building cafe/flex space (contract total $74,128.48). The board also added a contract addendum with Shredding Solutions (secure destruction of electronics/assets, not to exceed $6,000) to the next consent agenda.
Children & Youth Services renewals: Leah presented five CYS renewals for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026: - Wardell and Associates (independent/relocation services): $3,526,886 total (state share $2,459,478.55; federal share $26,520; county share $1,040,887.45). - Centre County Public Defender’s Office (guardian ad litem services for dependent youth): $210,000 total (state $105,000; county $105,000). - City Missions Living Stones, Inc. (residential independent living services): $115,000 total (state $92,000; county $23,000). - Cornell Abraxas Group (foster care residential services): $115,000 total (state $92,000; county $23,000). - Lean In Systems and Solutions (consultant services supporting workforce retention and professional development): $45,000 total (state $36,000; county $9,000). The board moved items 1–5 to next week’s consent agenda by voice vote.
Why it matters: The vehicle purchase is fully grant-funded but will revert to county property once its grant cycle completes; multiple children & youth renewals represent significant state‑county funding partnerships for foster, placement and workforce services.
