Committee members asked the administration to work with the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District on improved wayfinding and short-term improvements to the Miami Beach Promenade.

Commissioners described the current pedestrian experience between the convention center, Anchor Shops and Lincoln Road as confusing and visually uninviting. The Lincoln Road BID requested involvement in wayfinding design and emphasized an artistic, welcoming approach rather than the proliferation of standard regulatory signage. Staff said a signage package is part of the Lincoln Road improvement project and that they can collaborate with the BID to present designs for the committee’s review.

Separately, staff reported on recent maintenance efforts along Miami Beach Promenade (20th to 9th Street): increased landscaping maintenance, palm pruning and spot paving. Staff said a prior grind-and-seal pilot did not yield an acceptable temporary surface solution and that more extensive pavement replacement or alternative drainage solutions (French drains, increased green space or permeable materials) may be necessary. The committee asked staff to meet with the BID and affected neighborhoods, perform an on-site review and return with design options and a cost plan in September.
