DRCOG staff to seek board approval to pursue statewide HVAC licensing sunrise review

Denver Regional Council of Governments staff said they will ask the DRCOG board to approve submitting a sunrise review application to the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) seeking a statewide HVAC license.
Clay McComb, program manager for workforce and industry development at DRCOG, told the Regional Building Decarbonization Technical Committee that Colorado is one of 17 states without a statewide HVAC license and that the current patchwork of local licenses creates administrative burdens for contractors, inequities between jurisdictions and safety risks. “We are suggesting a statewide floor license. This is a safety measure,” McComb said.
