City engineer updates council on wells, plant piping, lift-station alignment and upcoming street work

Whitney said at Commerce Park the permanent wellhead is constructed and crews are preparing to install a permanent well once electrical work advances; the plant site has most site piping installed and the generator has been delivered. He said conduit and final electrical work will proceed as the remaining items are finished.
On Lift Station No. 4, Whitney said he is discussing options and preliminary alignments with the Texas Department of Transportation for a location that requires coordination where Sun Valley, Spring Valley and an I-305 frontage road converge. He said he will continue conversations with TxDOT and will seek necessary approvals in Austin to proceed with the preferred alignment.
On streets and transportation projects, Whitney reported a public meeting for East Wall and Briarfield drew about six residents; the contractor is awaiting storm-sewer junction boxes to be poured and delivered. Whitney said material deliveries make July the likely start window for visible construction and that staff will continue resident notifications about expected driveway inconveniences.
When asked for a current cost estimate for revisions to the force main and lift station work, Whitney said, “I'm estimating about 7.4,” and added that figure depends on TxDOT allowing the proposed crossing alignment; he also said preliminary feedback from local TxDOT staff had been favorable but that final approval must come from Austin.
Councilmembers asked follow-up questions about timing and costs; Whitney and staff offered to provide additional detail as designs and approvals solidify.
