Board approves $307,237.50 first‑year contract for Emerald Education math initiative
Henry County Public Schools presented and the board approved a partnership with Emerald Education to support a multi-year mathematics initiative for 2025–26, with a first-year cost of $307,237.50 to cover curriculum work, professional development and teacher math kits.
Staff said Emerald Education conducted a spring 2025 feasibility study and will provide professional development to administrators, math coordinators and classroom teachers, support revision of the math curriculum and help develop a district-level math vision. The first-year scope includes one-time purchases of math kits (manipulatives and games) for classroom use and culminates in a mini math conference for Henry County math teachers.
Board members asked about the project’s multi-phase timeline and future costs. Staff described the approved amount as the phase‑one investment and said later years are likely to cost less because the first year includes front-loaded materials and planning. One board member noted the district will monitor effectiveness and that subsequent phases would be evaluated before further commitments.
The motion to approve the Emerald Education engagement for 2025–26 at $307,237.50 passed unanimously.
Ending: Staff said they will begin contract execution and schedule the professional development and materials distribution; the board expects progress updates and cost projections for phases two and three.
