Cedar Crest Mountain Bike Club reports growth, youth participation and volunteer trail stewardship

Duval — Darren Bennett, representing the Cedar Crest Mountain Bike Club, told the council during public comment on June 3 that the group fielded 42 students this season (fifth through eleventh grade), had 38 volunteer coaches, and had 11 riders qualify for state competition with podium finishes.
Bennett described the club’s stewardship work with land managers: a trail-school event at Tennant Park in North Bend where four students and six coaches rebuilt trail features, and a volunteer rebuild on the Side Hustle trail on Tiger Mountain after storm damage. He thanked staff (Steve) for ongoing coordination regarding Duval open-space and said the club looks forward to partnerships on city open-space trail planning.
Bennett asked council to consider continued partnership as the city progresses on Duval open-space planning and grant opportunities.
