Duval council adopts 2026–2031 six-year transportation improvement program

Duval — The Duval City Council voted unanimously on June 3 to adopt the city’s 2026–2031 six-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), a required annual listing of transportation projects that must be submitted to the Washington State Department of Transportation by July 1.
City engineer Marissa Grondell summarized changes since last year’s TIP: updated cost estimates and project identifiers, removal of projects completed (including a Second Avenue extension), and conversion of programmatic non-motorized budgets into specific projects. The adopted list includes new intersection improvement entries and revised identifiers to support mapping and grant applications.
Grondell said the TIP is supported by the city’s transportation element of the comprehensive plan; adoption tonight will allow staff to submit the required resolution to state agencies by the statutory deadline.
Council moved and seconded the motion to adopt the TIP and took the vote; the motion passed. Staff will file the adopted TIP with WSDOT per the timeline presented.
