Board approves $192,393.50 pavement-marking contract to refresh county lane striping

Laura Severs, county engineer, explained the department is increasing its annual lane-striping program from covering roughly one-third of paved roads to about one-half each year. Severs said improved pavement markings help both human drivers and modern vehicle lane-assist systems.
Severs said the expanded program will likely increase the marking budget by roughly $40,000 annually but argued the safety benefit justifies the expense. Supervisor Nelson moved to approve the contract; Supervisor Bittner seconded the motion and it passed 5-0.
Outcome: The contract was approved and staff may schedule work under the terms agreed with the vendor. No additional funding changes were recorded in the meeting minutes.
