Woodbury County renews ES&S election-software maintenance for two years; cost increases noted

Michelle Scaff, Woodbury County auditor, told the board the county treated ES&S as a sole-source provider and worked with the vendor and county staff (including Joshua) to extend the existing agreement rather than create a new contract. Scaff said the amendment increases costs above amounts budgeted for fiscal year 2025 and that the county will absorb the difference from remaining FY25 funds or from FY26 budgeting; she reported a separate increase for FY26 of $7,600.
Why it matters: Election software maintenance is required for continued operation of election systems and for vendor-supported updates and support. The contract renewal secures maintenance and support for the next two years, according to the auditor.
Board action: Supervisor Bittinger moved to approve the amendment, Supervisor Nelson seconded, and the motion passed 5-0.
