Staff said many are small strips or remnants that commonly end up being sold to adjacent parcels, with proceeds required by code to go to the Barnes Fund.
A council member from the member’s district cited an example on Woodside Drive: a long narrow strip crossing several backyards that staff analysis valued at roughly $2,900. The member noted the parcel’s small total value and questioned whether adjacent owners, many of them rental duplex owners, would purchase the strip; staff said unsold parcels typically remain on Metro’s inventory as unbuildable lots.
After discussion, a motion was made and seconded and the committee voted to approve the resolution. The committee recorded no opposition on the floor.
Formal action: RS2025-1263 was approved, authorizing surplus declaration and disposition of the listed parcels per the code; proceeds will be remitted to the Barnes Fund as required by code.
